Rose Sheehan has been the coordinator of the community grant since August 2001, and took over the coordination of the hospital-based quit smoking program in June of 2006. Her passion and commitment to the program come from her personal experience of losing both parents to smoking-related diseases, one to emphysema, the other to lung cancer. Rose is one of 13 children and the only one who chose not to smoke growing up.
"I didn't choose not to smoke because I knew it was bad for me; I didn't know any such thing. I just happened to be the lucky one who didn't like it. I didn't know until many years later how lucky I was that I had made that decision. If I can help young people avoid the trap of smoking and help smokers kick the habit, maybe my family's pain won't be without a cause."
Vivi Begin

Vivi Begin joined the tobacco cessation team in April 2006. Vivi is very passionate about helping smokers quit, and is always willing to go the extra mile to help smokers find the resources they need to be successful. Being a former smoker, Vivi not only understands what it is like to quit smoking, she also understands what makes it so difficult for some people to take the first step in trying, as well as why most people have to make several attempts before quitting for good.
"The most important thing I have learned since quitting is that I am in control of my life; the cigarette no longer has that kind of hold on me. It feels good to be in control."
